Photomatix 是一款能夠調節圖片曝光度和通過多個曝光源產生HDRI－High DynamicRangeImage高動態範圍圖像。它能把多個不同曝光的照片混合成一張照片，並保持高光和陰影區的細節。開啟在同一場景拍攝的不同曝光度的照片，選項一個曝光混合方法，Photomatix Pro能讓你在6種聯合模式中選項：平均＋5種曝光混合方法，每個方法都關於不同的算法。

Photomatix用來處理同一場景下不同曝光設定的照片。這些照片稱為包圍曝光照片，許多型號的相機都有自動包圍曝光功能。

但並非一定需要多張照片才能使用Photomatix。色調映射工具（Tone Mapping tool）也能用於48位TIFF文件，同樣適用於48位壓縮工具（Compression tool）。
